lyrics

IT’S A SAILOR’S LIFE FOR ME LAD
I WORK ALL DAY TILL I GO MAD
DRINK ME RUM AT THE MERRIJIG INN
A GALLON OF GIN, JUST WATCH MY GRIN

chorus
THREE SHILLINGS A DAY IT’S MY PAY
THREE SHILLINGS A DAY IT’S THE FISHERMAN’S WAY
THREE SHILLINGS A DAY WE CAN HAUL ALL DAY
THREE SHILLINGS A DAY WE’RE HERE TO STAY

WHALERS SAY THAT WE MUST GO
WE CAN’T SAY NO TO THE CAPTAINS FOE
GRANTS US SHILLINGS FOR THE WORK WE’VE DONE
LINE OR NET WE NEED A TON

chorus

WHEEL OUR CATCH ‘ROUND THE TOWN
WE SELL IT ALL OR THE BOSS WILL FROWN
MAKE SURE TO WRITE IT DOWN
DON’T FALL IN, YOU WILL DROWN

chorus

ONCE WERE SEALERS THEN COME THE WHALERS
TALENTED FISHERMAN AND OF COURSE SAILORS
HARPOON TO HARVEST AND DUSK TIL DAWN
GRIFFITHS TO WISHART THIS TOWN WAS BORN

chorus
