JAMES ATKINSON LAID OUT THE TOWN RENAMED AFTER HIS BIRTH THE IRISH THEY CAME IN DROVES FROM YONDER OF THE EARTH
THE TOWNSFOLK PETITIONED, FOR A CHANGING OF THE NAME
THE GOVERNMENT IT DID AGREE, AND PORT FAIRY ROSE AGAIN
WELL RUTLEDGE & CO. WENT OUT OF BUSINESS THE TOWN IT NEARLY DIED
BUT THE ‘COUTA BOAT REVOLUTION IT KEPT HER WELL ALIVE
O, WHAT COULD HAVE BECOME OF THIS TOWN WE’RE LUCKY IN HINDSIGHT BUT NOW IT’S BUSINESS AS USUAL – AND FISHING THROUGH THE NIGHT
